Something Else by Ashley

For those who did not know, Ashley has started a business and has a website now. Take a look at it and look back often because we will be updating the website a lot more throughout the coming weeks and months.

Winter Blues

Well it is winter here and luckily the snow is melting. Today is the last day of my Federal Taxation class. I am excited to be finished but sad because I enjoyed the class and the professor was excellent.

Christmas is coming up as well as my cousin's wedding which is next week. Looking forward to the drive to Dallas and the time we will have with family and being in the temple.

Tax season is just around the corner and I will be living at work. Should be fun. :0) I really enjoy my job and when you are busy, the time flies by.

That is the latest update on life here. I will post some pictures of our adventure to Dallas next week.

Back to School!

Well this week was my first week back to school. Yes, you read that write. I am taking two night classes a week so I can sit for the CPA exam in two years. I will also earn a second bachelors at the end of the two years which is an extra bonus.

I am attending Emporia State University and I like the school. The people have all been friendly and very helpful whenever I needed help with something.

It is interesting attending a non-church school. It has been eight years since I attended a public school and that was a community college. I forgot that other schools do not have dress standards at all, so walking into my class was quite the surprise. The first row had sever ladies who need to put more clothes on and then as you headed back toward and empty seat, you could see people with their t-shirts making political statements, piercings that seem to never end, more facial hair than I have ever seen on me. You could find conversations going on about the latest fashions trends (or lack of fashion in my opinion), about how a boyfriend did this or did not do this and so I left him. You could hear people telling others about how they told their family members off and how they were justified in doing it.

I was able to find an empty row in the very back (my least favorite place to sit normally) and take all of my surrounding in and hear different conversations going on all around the room. I guess you could say the acoustics were good in this classroom. The impression that I was left with was one of sadness. Here was a group of my fellow brothers and sisters that had no regard for them selves or their fellow being. Now I know that I am generalizing about the group of students, not everyone fit into this generalization but a large number of them did.

It makes me happy that I have the gospel in my life and how we should try even harder to set the example and share the gospel with those around us because it is truly life changing.

Anyways, I am loving being in classes again and learning about new subjects.

Ainsley's Birthday

Well it was Ainsley's first birthday on Sunday and boy was it a blast. She cracks me up to no avail.

Here is a video of her eating her healthy bday cupcake (minus the strawberry frosting) while walking around. Pretty cute if I do not say so myself.

You have got to love kids!

For those wondering why not a cake, well lets just say that Ash and I are pretty conscious about what we eat. :0)

Scooterific!

Last evening I went for a 30 minute ride on the scooter throughout neighborhoods and let me tell you what, it was incredible! You are aware of your surroundings and are able to see things that in a car you would not be able to.

Now do not get me wrong, driving a scooter requires you to be alert as to what is around you because it is all to easy for a driver not to notice you. Yet I would not trade it.

I was told that you would have people wave and smile at you and that is not a lie. While I was driving around I had people wave, tell me they like the scooter, tell me they want a scooter, etc. It is funny because it becomes quite the topic amongst people when they see you on it or find out you have one. It cracks me up.

So for anyone who is thinking about getting a scooter, I would say do it!

Tornado

This is why I do love the Midwest. You do not find this back West! To be a storm chaser would be fun! This tornado was in Iowa; the same area that the Boy Scouts were hit.

Lessons learned at the Dentist.

Lessons learned at the dentist.
  1. Always make sure that your dentist has his hearing aids turned on.
  2. Make sure he speaks and understands English
  3. Never be afraid to ask questions and repeat yourself if you feel he is not listening.
  4. Check his credentials!

Ainsley growing up.

Well it is funny how fast one's child grows. Ains will be a year at the end of this month and boy how she has grown.

Today she finally said Mama! So she has got Dada and Mama down to a science, now to figure out the rest of her language. Thank heavens for sign language!

My Stella!

Well after two years of debating Ash and I decided that I should go for it and purchase a scooter. So we headed to Scooter World KC and purchased a brand new Stella by Genuine Scooter Co. It is fabulous!

I have only taken it out in our apartment complex until I have taken the driving license exam and had some more time on the scooter in a controlled area.

I love it and our neighbors love talking about it. Every time I go out on it I get people coming out on their balconies to watch. It is pretty comical.

You know with gas prices continuing to soar I am grateful that I have a scooter that gets 90 miles to the gallon.

I will post a picture of the scooter when I get a chance। I love it! I highly recommend everyone getting one. A warning though for anyone considering getting one. Do not purchase a scooter from the web, especially ones from China. You will regret it.

Made Contact!

I am pretty excited because I was able to make contact with my best friend from Oregon last week.

I found out that he is getting married and I am very happy for him. I wish him the best of luck!

Now I just need to get down there sometime with the family and see him because it has been 10 years since we have seen each other.

Family Vacation

Well we had a little vacation of sorts because Ash's sister got married in Nauvoo. We stopped of in Hannibal, MO (the birthplace and childhood home of Mark Twain) and had a good old time.

Hannibal is very enchanting. I have included some photos of us there as well as some in Nauvoo which we had an equally great time being with each other.
